Status on 22 October 2026
Shanghai 2026 is finished. The UCI lists the 2026 Tissot UCI Track World Championships in Shanghai, though its competition page showed no dates or results when our research read it, and the Shanghai city government announced the October hosting. Escape Collective reports that competition ran over five days, 14 to 18 October 2026. Our main source for the results is Escape Collective's report on the medal table.
The 2026 medal table
Great Britain finished top with 6 gold medals and 12 medals in all, ahead of the Netherlands with 5 gold (7 medals). Denmark, Germany and China won 2 gold each (Escape Collective). Anna Morris of Great Britain won three titles: the team pursuit, the omnium and the Madison.

Winners from Escape Collective; the sprint events also from a search summary of IDL Pro Cycling's report. The team sprint podiums and the sprint final score come from that search summary together with Escape Collective. Silver and bronze in the other events were not collected in our research.
Lavreysen's titles, and two different totals
Harrie Lavreysen won the sprint, the keirin and the team sprint in Shanghai. The sprint was his eighth world sprint title in a row, according to a search summary of IDL Pro Cycling's report.
His career total of world titles is reported two ways. One source, IDL Pro Cycling as summarised in search, calls it a record 23 after Shanghai. A dpa report carried by tour-magazin.de counted the sprint as his 21st. We have not been able to settle which is right, so we give both.
Earlier championships
Our research collected only a few results from 2024 and 2025, all from Wikipedia's event pages (secondary) as shown in search summaries. Glasgow 2023, where the track championships were part of the combined UCI Cycling World Championships, was not collected.

What the events are
These descriptions follow UCI Regulations Part 3, Track Races, in the version applying from 1 January 2026, as reproduced in the Japan Cycling Federation's bilingual edition; we did not find the UCI's own English PDF of that edition.
- Team sprint
- Two teams of three riders race each other over three laps, each rider leading for one lap (article 3.2.144). A Cycling Weekly guide, seen only in a search summary, describes the women's team sprint as a race for pairs; the UCI rule (text modified 12 June 2020) makes no distinction between men and women, and we follow it.
- Sprint
- A race between two to four riders over two or three laps (article 3.2.029), seeded by a 200 m flying-start time trial.
- Keirin
- Riders follow a motorised pacer, which leaves the track with three laps to go on a 250 m track, then sprint (article 3.2.134).
- Kilometre time trial
- A standing-start ride against the clock, run over 1,000 m for both men and women at World Cup and World Championship level since a rule change on 1 January 2025.
- Individual and team pursuit
- Riders or teams of four start on opposite sides of the track. The individual pursuit is 4 km for elite men and elite women (article 3.2.052, changed on 1 January 2025); the team pursuit is 4 km.
- Scratch, points, elimination and Madison
- Bunch races: the scratch race is a straight race over 10 km for elite riders (article 3.2.173); the points race is decided by sprint points and laps gained (article 3.2.114); in the elimination race the last rider at each intermediate sprint drops out (article 3.2.218); and the Madison is for teams of two, decided by sprint points and laps gained.
- Omnium
- Four races on one day: scratch, tempo, elimination and points race (article 3.2.247).
More on formats is on track cycling, and Olympic track results are on the Olympics.
